Harpers Ferry trip, April 2006

It's been a good long while, but here are some photos from the Harpers Ferry trip last month that I finally got developed.

In front of the Episcopal church devastated by the Civil War

View from atop the Lower Town of Harpers Ferry toward the Potomac

View across the Potomac toward Maryland Heights from "The Point"

The Harpers Ferry water gap - Potomac flowing from the left, Shenandoah flowing from the right - both becoming the Potomac ahead

View of Harpers Ferry from atop the precipice of Maryland Heights (John Brown's Fort is the arsenal near The Point) - Note the train crossing the Potomac

View of the Virginia side, Loudoun Heights (occupied by Walker's Division), and the Shenandoah from Maryland Heights

Harpers Ferry behind me, Bolivar Heights and School House Ridge on the horizon, where Jackson's main body attacked the Union lines

Looking up the Potomac River, West Virginia on the left and Maryland on the right

View from atop Maryland Heights where McLaws's artillery was stationed

The Naval Battery where the Federals initially placed their heavy artillery on Maryland Heights

Pictures of Antietam will be forthcoming.
